Dexis Awarded USAID/Benin NELY Activity to Support Economic Livelihoods

Arlington, Virginia — Dexis announced today that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded the Company a five-year, $38 million contract to work with the Government of Benin, civil society organizations, and community leaders to promote a peaceful, resilient Benin. The project will improve community resilience to violent extremism through more equitable and diverse economic livelihoods access for youth, women, and vulnerable populations in targeted conflict areas in northern Benin. The USAID/Benin Northern Economic Livelihoods for Youth, Women and Vulnerable Populations (NELY) Activity is the first task order awarded under the USAID Programming for Prevention and Peacebuilding (P4P2) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract.

While the West African country has a history of peaceful transitions of power and relatively low levels of internal conflict, Benin faces challenges such as occasional political tensions, economic disparities, and the threat of spillover violence from neighboring countries affected by terrorism and regional instability.

Benin’s four northern departments are currently experiencing economic and security crises that are leading to loss of livelihoods and the expansion of violent extremist organizations. Working with our partners—including Catholic Relief Services, Fraym, and Dedras—Dexis will implement a crisis-ready, agile, and systems-based approach that puts youth, women, and vulnerable groups at the forefront, strengthening their resilience by addressing their economic needs, resolving conflicts, and rebuilding social cohesion.

“Dexis thrives on agility, which allows us to adapt and deliver impactful solutions,” said Mihir Desai, Chief Executive Officer. “In Benin, we will quickly and effectively deliver critical economic opportunities to youth, women, and vulnerable groups and help secure a brighter, more peaceful future for all.”
