In April 2020, Checchi Consulting was awarded a five-year contract to implement the USAID-funded Justice and Transparency Project (JTP) in Guatemala. The purpose of the JTP is to strengthen security and justice sector institutions to more effectively investigate, prosecute and adjudicate crime in order to reduce corruption and impunity in Guatemala, which will have an impact on reducing illegal migration. Checchi will help strengthen the Public Ministry’s ability to investigate and prosecute criminal cases. The company also will improve the effectiveness and coordination of the justice system through assistance to the Judicial Branch, Public Defense Institute, Constitutional Court, National Institute of Forensic Science, and Migration Institute. In addition, Checchi will support judicial reform and oversight to strengthen the rule of law, as well as help increase transparency in the justice system.
