Arlington, Virginia — Dexis Consulting Group announced today that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded the Company a five-year, nearly $15 million contract to support the Government of Mali’s goal of more efficient, effective, and competent Malian justice sector institutions that are accountable and responsive to the needs of Malians.
The Sariya Bato (“Respect to the Rule of Law”) program will work with the formal and informal justice sectors to strengthen justice institutions and courts, enhance access to justice, and enable anti-corruption and oversight mechanisms. The project seeks to improve the navigability of the justice system, increase access to legal aid, and enhance public understanding of the judicial system. Dexis also will work with the Government of Mali and Malian civil society organizations to improve the protection of human rights and increase accountability for violations, with a specific focus on addressing sexual and gender-based violence and trafficking in persons, including hereditary slavery.
Dexis previously implemented the USAID/Mali Justice Project (MJP), which worked to strengthen the rule of law and combat corruption. The project played a crucial role in mitigating corruption challenges by focusing on institutional reforms, establishing oversight mechanisms, and promoting integrity within the justice sector.
