Indonesia – Economic Law, Institutional and Professional Strengthening Projects I and II

Under two consecutive contracts, Checchi provided technical assistance and training to improve the legal and regulatory environment for business growth and investment in Indonesia. The Projects worked in the areas of economic law, regulatory enforcement, legal training, legal information systems and procurement management. Checchi advisors collaborated with Indonesian government institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, the Competition Commission and other regulatory commissions, as well as law schools and professional associations. Technical assistance activities included drafting of commercial and economic laws and legislation; broadening the commercial law curriculum at the University of Indonesia and other leading law schools; strengthening government procurement regulations and practices, including regulatory commissions; establishing a system for collecting, storing and disseminating legal information; and facilitating outreach programs to civil society, the parliament, the commercial court system and local governments.
