Egypt – Assessment of Trade and Investment Trends

As part of a project to assist USAID and the Egyptian Government to monitor program results and prepare for the development of a new country strategy for Egypt, Checchi participated in a series of cross-cutting analyses and strategic planning studies focusing on economic growth, quality of life, and competitiveness issues. An important component of this work was a study of trade and investment trends and prospects that compared Egypt’s progress with that of other developing countries, examined the potential impact of alternative foreign exchange rate scenarios on foreign direct investment and international competitiveness, and assessed Egypt’s readiness and ability to benefit from various international trade arrangements.
